Indicative course content
Whilst the overall framework will be Integrative the course
will mainly focus on three particular approaches to couples
work.
- Developmental
- Transpersonal (to include some imago work plus Hollis)
- Relationship enhancement (PAIRS, IMAGO and others)
The course will enable you to work with the more complex
couple presentations which may, at times, require practitioners
in medium to long term work with couples. Attention will be
given to the work of Lachkar, Schnarch, Zinker, Bader and
Pearson, Hollis and others. The full course content will be
available nearer the time.
Group supervision and professional development groups will
be interspersed with didactic teaching and skills training.

- A developmental framework for couples work
- Stages of Couples Relationship: symbiosis to
differentiation, practicing, rapprochement to mutual
interdependence
- Diagnosis of the couple's stages
- Principles for Intervention
- The re-decision school within TA (M. and B. Gouldings)
- A critical review of the co-dependency model
- Narcissistic-Borderline couples
- A comparison of Developmental and Transpersonal models of
relationships
- Relationship enhancement models vs. couples therapy
Entry requirements
Candidates will either have successfully completed the
London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy or an
equivalent course of no less than 1 year duration. Candidates
may be considered who wish to work solely with couples issues
rather than psychosexual presentations.
Assessment
One case study of 3500 words, 85% attendance, payment of all
fees.
Dates
3 weekends plus 13 Saturdays and 1 Sunday afternoon.
November 2013 to December 2014. Times: 10.00 - 16.30 hrs. 19,5
days in total.

Fees
£2450.00 for the year. Payments can be made monthly by
standing order over 10 months. Applicants who are able to pay
for the year ahead in one lump sum, are offered a 10% reduction
in fees. Early bird application (contracts signed by the end of
May 2013) receive a 15% reduction.
